Scantrol And Scantrol Deep Vision Partners In New Innovation Centre
Scantrol and Scantrol Deep Vision are part of the newly awarded Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI) CRIMAC. The centre aims to improve the fisheries technology so that marine resource mapping can become more efficient and reliable.
– Scantrol and Scantrol Deep Vision will contribute by developing and testing their existing trawl control technology iSYM and trawl-based catch monitor and selection system Deep Vision.This is great news for us. We have very good experiences as partner in the CRISP SFI- centre together with IMR and we hope that this project will be equally successful. We are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration in the years to come, says Helge Hammersland, managing director of the two companies.
The SFI’s are supported by the Norwegian Research Council and dedicated to developing competencies that are important for innovation and value creation. The centres are a cooperation between leading research institution and R&D-performing companies and work with a long-term horizon and at an international level. The Centre for Research-based Innovation in Marine acoustic abundance estimation and backscatter Classification (CRIMAC) aims to refine fisheries technology in order to improve the stock assessment that forms the basis for determining the quotas for the fisheries.
– The centre fascilitates increased focus in areas that can help solve problems in the industry and reduce the environmental impact so that we can harvest the ocean’s resources in a sustainable way for eternity, says Sissel Rogne, Director at IMR.
