SYM 7 AutoTrawl - Trawl Performance Recorder
Are you Spending Too Much Time tuning your Trawl Gear?
Unwanted wire length differences and a trawl that is not performing as expected are common challenges where SYM 7 Trawl Performance Recorder can assist you.
Why is the trawl not caching as good as expected?
Trawl Performance Recorder lets you go back in time and study what went wrong, or what you did right. Or you can see how the tow has developed during the last hour. Has anything changed? Or is it a stable tow?
Every haul is recorded from you push the shoot button until the trawl is back on the deck. SYM 7 provides an easy way to analyze the recordings if you need to sort out issues with your trawl gear, winches, or controls.
To make it possible to repeat your successful hauls and avoid the bad ones, we are developing machine learning tools to analyze your recordings.
Example for using Trawl Performance Recorder to investigate the reason for unwanted Length Difference during Towing:
The skipper report a constant length diff between starboard and port wires.
We asked the skipper to pay out wire during towing.
SYM 7 Trawl Performer is recording the Length difference and the payout operation.

Analysis of Trawl Performer logfile shows that starboard winch tends to start moving before the port winch.
Engineer was asked to check if there could be mechanical friction preventing the port winch to move as freely as the starboard winch.
It was found that the brake band on the port winch was slightly touching the winch drum.
